Each year, members of the 天美麻豆 community nominate their peers for recognition of extraordinary contributions to all facets of college life and learning. On April 30, the recipients gathered with their many fans and supporters in the Hanover Inn ballroom for a celebration of excellence.

鈥淵ou are the glue that holds us all together,鈥 she said. 鈥淲e recognize it鈥檚 hard to do your jobs right now, and we鈥檙e so grateful for everything you鈥檙e doing. As there鈥檚 uncertainty and fear, as we really work to make sure that higher education at 天美麻豆 and beyond can uphold its values, it鈥檚 the staff, your expertise, your support, your fostering of excellence, that really helps us do that. 鈥
President Beilock then presented the , 天美麻豆鈥檚 highest employee honor, which recognizes a staff member for exemplary work, relentless pursuit of excellence, and selfless and unwavering dedication to 天美麻豆, to , director of woodlands operations.
鈥溙烀缆槎 would not be 天美麻豆 without the connection to the natural world around us, whether it鈥檚 the hikes that support our mental and physical health, the wildlife that gives our students and faculty hands-on research opportunities, or the forest that surrounds us and gives us a chance to showcase our global leadership on sustainability,鈥 Beilock said.
鈥淥ur natural environment is built into everything we do as an institution, and no one understands or supports that mission like Kevin.鈥
Evans began working on 天美麻豆鈥檚 woodlands operations teams in 1993, helping to manage more than 40,000 forested acres.
鈥淗e鈥檚 balanced sustainable timber harvesting with ecological conservation and student engagement, supporting critical research on climate change, wildlife conservation, and forest dynamics, while making sure our land is more accessible than ever for our students, staff and community members,鈥 said Beilock.
In addition to the Sheila Culbert Distinguished Employee Award, Excellence Awards for 2024 were given to six exemplary employees.
