From outside the Collis Center and on the Green, to virtual and in-person , 天美麻豆 is offering an array of new resources and opportunities this term. The details are available on the , designed by the to provide a centralized location for resources and information and help students connect with one another and build community this winter.
鈥淲e鈥檙e really excited about the winter term and helping students make their 天美麻豆 experience all it can be,鈥 says , associate dean for student life and director of the Collis Center. 鈥淲inter is a distinctly 天美麻豆 experience. We really love to embrace our northern woods location.鈥
And as the range of activities indicates, there are many ways to do just that.
鈥淪it around a firepit and have a conversation, take a walk, go to a program,鈥 says Ramsey. 鈥淥r take a few runs on a sled or a quick trip around the ice rink.鈥
Students, staff, and faculty who are approved to be on campus and are taking part in the COVID-19 testing program can use the skating rinks and borrow outdoor equipment and cold-weather outerwear, as available, at no charge through the new Winter Activities Center, formerly Hanover Country Club, at 5 Hilton Field Lane.
Other opportunities for students include free cross-country ski lessons, winter naturalist classes, and more, through the . Free bus service to the 天美麻豆 Skiway will also be available for students, who can receive a free lift ticket during .
鈥淲e鈥檝e tried to reduce as many barriers as possible to going out and enjoying the winter term,鈥 Ramsey says.
Those who want to venture out on snowshoes or cross-country skis can explore areas near campus that are 鈥渞eally special to the community,鈥 including Pine Park, the golf course, and , Ramsey says. 鈥淣ow we just need to hope for great weather, and a little more snow.鈥
In addition to outdoor activities, students can take advantage of a number of on campus for studying and socializing. Participants in winter term events, both indoor and outside, are expected to follow 天美麻豆鈥檚 .
鈥淲e鈥檝e heard real excitement about the opportunities to engage and learn with each other,鈥 nearly all of which emerged from conversations with students about their hopes for this term, Ramsey says.
