Class of 2014: What鈥檚 Next? (Part Two)

This is the second of a two-part series.

For the Class of 2014, the world is a place of opportunity. It鈥檚 clear that this is a group of young people with commitment and ambition. Some will enter doctoral programs, some will travel, some will become teachers, and some are taking time off before starting their careers.

So what can you do with a 天美麻豆 degree? The possibilities are endless.

Gavin HuangMajor: Film and media studies and government Hometown: New York, N.Y. Plans: I will be teaching English in Beijing.

Nick O鈥橪earyMajor: Theater Hometown: Hanover, N.H. Plans: I will pursue work as a theater director.

Isabelle VerwaayMajor: Studio art and geography Hometown: Port-au-Prince, Haiti Plans: I will be pursuing my master of architecture at Harvard University鈥檚 Graduate School of Design.

Anne ResslerMajor: Engineering Hometown: West Point, N.Y. Plans: I will remain at Thayer School to complete my bachelor of engineering degree in mechanical engineering.

Saara-Anne AziziMajor: Chemistry and classical languages and literatures Hometown: Philadelphia, Pa. Plans: I鈥檒l be pursuing graduate studies in chemistry at the University of Cambridge with the support of a Reynolds Scholarship.

Samantha VictorMajor: Asian and Middle Eastern languages and literatures (Japanese and Chinese) Hometown: Morris Plains, N.J. Plans: I will teach young children and teens English in Beijing.

Aaron KoenigMajor: Russian studies and biology Hometown: Annandale, Va. Plans: I鈥檒l be working in health care.

Kathleen ChungMajor: Romance languages (Spanish and French) Hometown: Tehachapi, Calif. Plans: I will be taking a few gap years before medical school.

Jane CavalierMajor: Art history Hometown: Pittsburgh, Pa. Plans: The year following graduation, I will conduct independent art historical research as a Fulbright Fellow in Berlin. I then intend to study for a master鈥檚 in the history of art, with a concentration in contemporary American art, at the Courtauld Institute in London. I have also accepted an offer to join an international management consulting firm as an associate upon receiving my degree from the Courtauld.

Rebecca RothfeldMajor: Philosophy Hometown: Washington, D.C. Plans: I will be working as assistant literary editor of The New Republic.

Mahala PaganMajor: English Hometown: New York, N.Y. Plans: I plan to join the strategy group at Siegel+Gale, a branding strategy and design firm, in the NYC office.

Jenny CheMajor: French studies and geography Hometown: New York, N.Y. Plans: I have a summer internship with The Wall Street Journal鈥檚 鈥淪peakeasy,鈥 a culture and entertainment blog.

Leah FeigerMajor: Women鈥檚 and gender studies and African and African American studies Hometown: Chicago, Ill. Plans: I will be moving to Cape Town, South Africa, to get my master鈥檚 from the University of Cape Town鈥檚 African Gender Institute.

Kate SheltonMajor: Psychology and women鈥檚 and gender studies Hometown: Scottsdale, Ariz. Plans: My plans are undetermined.

Todor ParushevMajor: Economics and mathematical social sciences Hometown: Varna, Bulgaria Plans: I will be working in the Corporate Strategy and Business Development division of Cl铆nica Las Condes, one of Chile鈥檚 most renowned private hospitals.

Julia McElhinneyMajor: Environmental studies Hometown: Winchester, Mass. Plans: I will be joining CBT Architects in Boston to work in their Urban Design Group.

Ezra TobackMajor: Asian and Middle Eastern studies; Asian and Middle Eastern languages and literatures (Japanese) Hometown: Westchester, N.Y. Plans: I鈥檒l be attending the Inter-University Center for Japanese Language Studies in Yokohama, Japan, and applying to graduate schools in the fall.

Jesse PeltierMajor: Chemistry and Native American studies Hometown: Bellevue, Wash. Plans: I鈥檒l be attending the University of California, San Diego, chemistry and biochemistry graduate school in order to get a PhD in inorganic chemistry.

Gabriela MeadeMajor: Cognitive science Hometown: Waterbury, Vt. Plans: I have been awarded a Fulbright study grant to do a master鈥檚 in cognitive neuroscience at Radboud University Nijmegen in the Netherlands.
