In an opinion piece on the education technology website edSurge, Joshua Kim, the director of learning and technology for �����鶹’s Master of Health Care Delivery Science program, talks about massive open online courses (MOOCs) and the pushback they are getting from faculty members nationwide.

“From Amherst to San Jose State, faculty are asking about the wisdom of setting a price of zero for college teaching. … Faculty are also wondering about the prudence of encouraging a teaching regime that relies on a few superstar teachers (the MOOC creators) and an army of facilitators (the people formerly known as the faculty),” he writes.

But MOOCs are not what faculty should be worried about, Kim says. Among things they should worry about, he says, are “our systematic public disinvestment in higher education” and health care costs that “will swamp the ability of states to fund post-secondary education.”
